PRINCIPLES
-
We believe that the Scriptures is God's Word inspired by the Spirit of God, given to mankind to understand God's will of the whole universe. God's Word is infalliable and powerful ( 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:21; 1 Thessalonians 2:13)
-
We believe from the Scriptures that there is only one God (Deuteronomy 6:4). Of the God-head, there are three Persons called God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (1 John 5:7; John 1:1-2; 10:30; Isaiah 48:16-17)
-
We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and Man. He is the first to be born (Colossians 1:15-19). Jesus was conceived by the Holy Ghost in the Virgin Mary's womb (Luke 1:27-35), according to the prophecy of Isaiah that "a virgin shall conceive and bear a son and shall call his name Emmanuel" (Isaiah 7:14). After innumerable healings, casting out of demons, raised many from the dead, and taught about the Kingdom of Heaven, He was put to death, not because any sin He had committed but because of the purpose and plan of the Father for Him to redeem mankind from the original sin committed by Adam and Eve. On the third day, Jesus Christ was raised from the dead by the Glory of the Father (Acts 10:38-40; Romans 1:3-4; 6:4). He now is on the right Hand of the Father interceding for followers (Hebrew 7:25; Acts 7:56)
-
We believe that sin came to the world through mankind's disobedience (Genesis 5:2; Romans 5:12). Since then, mankind continued to sin (Romans 3:10, 5:23; Isaiah 53:6; Ecclesiastes 7:20; Psalm 51:5, 58:3). Because of the wage of sin is death and eternal punishment (Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:12-15), mankind needs God's Salvation provided by His Son Jesus Christ on the Cross, which is the Blood of God's Lamb to wash away our sins (Hebrews 9:22; Matthew 26:28; John 3:17-18). God's salvation will come to the persons who willingly confess their sins and freely receive His redemption by faith (John 3:16; Romans 10:8-9; Ephesians 2:18; Hebrews 11:6)
-
We believe that Water Baptism must be done by emerging in the water in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ as exemplified by the Lord Himself (Matthew 3:13-17) and followed by His eyewitnessed disciples. For Jesus is the true Way of Life, the following Apostles did baptize in Jesus' Name, not just the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. And so do we:
A. Peter baptized in Jesus' name (Acts 2:38; 10:48)
B. Phillip baptized in Jesus' name (Acts 8:12, 16, 35-37)
C. Ananias baptized in Jesus' name (Acts 9:17-18)
B. Paul baptized in Jesus' name (Acts 19:4-5; 22:16)
-
We believe that an evidence of a person who is baptized in the Holy Ghost is speaking in tongues (Acts 2:2-4), which is also a sign of being born-again (John 3:3-6), according to the prophecy of the prophet Joel (Joel 2:28) and the promise of the Lord Jesus Himself (Acts 1:5, 8). Receiving the Holy Ghost enables a believer to praise and worship God very miraculously and wonderfully (Acts 2:4-11)
-
We believe that every believer shall grow in faith based on the love and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ (1 Peter 2:1-2; 2 Peter 3:18), and to grow to the fullness of the stature of the Lord (Ephesians 4:13-14)
-
We believe that believers of Jesus Christ will be raised from the dead to eternal life (John 5:24). But because the Lord Himself warned that not all those who called Him Lord, Lord, shall enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but only those who do the will of His Father (Matthew 7:21). In order for believers to truly go to Heaven, we must live our lives His Way (John 14:6). To live His Way is to belong to Him. To belong to Him is to crucify our carnal nature (Galatians 5:24). Whether we are dead or living at His coming, we need the assurance of being resurrection at His trumpet sound and to be with Him forever (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)
-
We believe that all the dead shall be raised from 4 different places: from the grave, from Hell, from the seas, and from the dust (Revelation 20:13; John 5:28-29; Daniel 12:2). Regardless of how and where we are to die, every overcoming Christian shall be raised for a glorious body. Taking a closer look at John 5:24, we can see that both believers and non-believers are subjected to be raised from the dead. Believers are raised to receive eternal life, while non-believers to eternal punishment, according to their deeds (Revelation 20:11-15; 21:1-2)
-
Our Lord Jesus taught that the quality of trees is known by their fruits. And non-fruitful trees shall be cut down and thrown in the fire (Matthew 7:19-20). In the same way, the fruits of our lives are known by our way of life: our Christian life is reflected by the dress we wear and the language we speak (Deuteronomy 22:5, 11; 1 Corinthians 11:14-16; 1 Timothy 2:9-10; 1 Peter 3:3-5). We don't want to provoke the Almighty God to be angry (Exodus 20:26; Revelation 16:15). If our body shape is appearant, our dress is too tight; if our skin is transparent, our dress is too thin, and if our knees and elbows are shown, our dress is too short. We are called to be put off all filthy communications and put on the newness of Christ (Colossians 3:8-10). We therefore emphasize on the message of the Cross. The Cross of the Lord has dual meanings: the crucifixion of our carnal nature, and the power of God (1 Corinthians 1:18). This message of the Cross guides us on keeping ourselves from being polluted by the world (Romans 6:12-13; Galatians 5:24, 6:1; James 1:27; 1 John 5:18)
-
We believe that, after Satan's three and a half year-reign is over, the Lord Jesus Christ will descend from the air to the earth, to wage war against His enemy (Revelation 19:11-12). After that, He will reign the earth, with His saints, for a thousand year period (Revelation 20:1-6). This coming of the Lord is called the Second Coming. During this thousand-year reign, all the saints of the earth will worship the Lord together in Jerusalem (Zechariah 14:3-4, 16-17)
-
We believe that Calvary's Cross Church exists as a holy instrument for the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the Head of His Church, to fulfill His call (Jeremiah 51:20) according to His purpose (Isaiah 14:26-27). Therefore, the call of Calvary's Cross Chruch is to focus on 4 specific areas:
A. Praise and worship God in truth and in the Spirit (John 4:23-24; 1 Corinthians 12:13)
B. Preach the message of the Cross lifestyle (Matthew 10:38; Luke 14:27; John 15:2; Galatians 5:24) and lead believers to root down and grow up in the Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:23-24, 14:12; Ephesians 4:11-16)
C. Be light and salt to our surroundings in righteousness, in truth, and in goodness (Matthew 5:14-16; Philippians 4:8; 1 Timothy 4:12)
D. Spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to wherever the door is open (Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:15-18)
